The entire apartment is nice, but quite often hardwood floors in rentals are not exactly great. When I saw how wonderful the floors were, I knew I had found the place for us to be while saving up to buy our own home. Along with all of the other features of this apartment, we knew we were getting a great price on a great place. However, these floors do need looking after and we do suggest that you do take care of hardwood flooring.

Wood flooring is timeless; it is a natural resource, renewable and recyclable. For natural beauty, it's hard to beat the warmth of real hardwood flooring. Wood floors are available in solid one-piece boards or in the form of engineered wood. However composite veneers are also good. The composite consists of a hardwood veneer top-layer laminated to lower layers of softwood backing that inhibit warping.

If you have children who are spilling things on your hardwood floors, you may want to put down area rugs where they play the most.

If you find that your hardwood floors have become sticky and seem to have some sort of substance on them, you will need to wet wash them. When you do this, use as much water as you need to get them clean, but wipe it up as soon as you can. Water should never be left sitting on hardwood floors any longer than absolutely necessary. If you need a detergent, contact someone who specializes in installing and caring for these types of floors. They should be able to recommend something that will not harm your floors, will care of hardwood flooring, but will also get the job done.
